    Drawing Project - The World

This blog is a document of my capital cities drawing project which had its origination back in 2012.

The now completed project functions as one piece of work consisting of a miniature drawing of every capital city in the world.

There are under official international criteria (currently) 196 recognised capital cities.

The  quarter sawn oak blocks for the project were cut by Letterfrack conservation in Galway.

The 196 oak blocks were sized using a freshly made mixture of rabbit skin glue. The gesso for the drawing surface was then made up using the rabbit skin glue and Rugen white ground.

Six layers of gesso were applied to all 196 oak blocks.

The individual drawings are produced with pencil, scalpel and burnishing tools.

If you require any further information on this project please contact the artist on the form below.
